Design Built Homes has been building better homes for Mid-Missouri since 1996. Our owner, Bruce Finley, has over 25 years of custom home building experience and expertise.
In this time, Bruce has seen a lot of homes to completion and he strongly believes the process should be centered around the customer. At Design Built Homes, we understand building a home is a significant financial and emotional investment.
His 25 plus years of homebuilding experience allow him to create custom homes that demonstrate pure quality and expertise.
Bruce Finley is an artisan, perfectionist, manager, builder and designer. His extensive homebuilding experience allows him to create custom homes demonstrating pure quality and expertise. Starting out, Bruce worked as a framing and finishing carpenter while he attended the University of Missouri. He quickly gained experience in other trades while working for several homebuilders, which enabled him to develop his skill set in the various elements of home construction.

In 1984, Bruce graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a Bachelor’s of Science in Architectural and Environmental Design. He is truly a “builder’s builder”. After 12 years of managing construction, Bruce began living out his dream of building custom homes in Mid-Missouri.
Founding Design Built Homes has enabled Bruce to blend his artistic talents with his passion for building homes creating a better living environment for clients. Design Built Homes is one of only a handful of true design-build companies in Mid-Missouri.
Among other benefits, the design-build approach reduces the time and frustration of managing two separate contracting parties and simplifies the path to an “exactly what I wanted” home. Our clients have complimented Bruce’s dedication to excellence, trustworthiness and attention to detail. Building homes ranging from 1,500 sq. ft. to 10,000 sq. ft., Bruce is committed to building a space fitting the needs of Design Built Home’s clients. His vast knowledge in energy efficiency, timber frames and log homes gives him the unique ability to deliver a one of a kind home.
